The nine lots of Tronto river valley irrigation scheme serve an 4,500 Ha cultivated area, partly spreading over the adjoining hill slopes (Photo 1).
The project envisaged a 4 m3/s discharge diversion weir on river Tronto (Photo 2) together with a conduction canal on the river left bank. New designs were also delivered by CESECO for the updating and improvement of the whole system: a network of close conduit, DN 2000 pipelines and an hydroelectric plant (lot X) are also included.
Studio de Vito and CESECO INTERNATIONAL srl delivered both the feasibility study of the entire large irrigation scheme as well as the detailed designs of the nine lots into which the project had been parcelled out.
Owing to funding shortage, the schemes of two lots (X and XI), are still to be accomplished.
