Downstream of Pertusillo dam, the Agri works aimed to ensure an additional 4,3 m3/s supply to the city of Bari in Puglia and to Agri valley.
The water, drawn from excess discharges of Missanello hydroelectric plant, is poured into Pertusillo aqueduct reservoir by a 2,5 km long DN 1800-2200 mm conduction canal. An additional emergency hydraulic reserve is preserved in a series of detention wells. Flood protection issues are also taken into consideration.
